This is our productions tab, which is essentially an archive of our past, current, and future shows! The subpages for this tab include "Current Production", "Past Productions", and under that our "Pre-Covid Productions" since we had to take a break during the 2020 pandemic. This base page is meant to define what each of our productions is and what they entail. A theatrical production refers to a live performance that takes place in a theater or performance space. In our case, it is usually the PHS auditorium. A theatrical performance involves a complex variety elements from different departments, including acting, direction, set design, lighting, sound, costumes, and props, all working together to bring a scripted or improvised story to life for an audience. Wether we are putting on a play, musical, or unofficial compilation, we put our all into our current production. We hope you enjoy exploring!
A play is a form of literature and performing arts that is typically written for actors to perform on a stage. It is a scripted work that tells a story through dialogue, actions, and sometimes music or other theatrical elements. Plays can vary in length, style, and genre, and they may be written for various purposes, such as entertainment, education, or social commentary. Plays do not typically include singing and dancing.
A musical is a form of theatrical performance that combines spoken dialogue, acting, and singing, often accompanied by dance and musical numbers. Musicals integrate various elements of drama, music, and dance to tell a story and convey emotions. Well-known examples of musicals include The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Hamilton, and West Side Story. PHS theatre boasts a live pit orchestra comprised of our award-winning band ensemble!
