Period of history from 1740-1763 where the British were engaged in conflicts on 4 different continents. The label 'Seven Years' comes from the period between 1756 to 1763. This time frame contained several conflicts in North America including the French and Indian War. The results from the global wars (this time period should really be called the First World War) resulted in the bankruptcy of the British Crown. This lead to extreme taxes placed on the North American colonies which sowed the seeds of revolution.
As part of the Seven Years War (considered by most historians to be the first world war), The French and Indian War had far reaching consequences on the British colonies in North America and England.
