National Honor Society

 Edison High School Milan Oh

Purpose

The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.

All National Honor Society members must demonstrate that they have met requirements in each of the pillars of Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service to become members of NHS. The club promotes these traits and encourages students to be well-rounded in their academic and extra-curricular activities.

Membership

Juniors and Seniors at Edison High School are eligible for membership.

In order to become a member of the Edison High School Chapter of the National Honor Society, candidates must meet the following criteria:

In addition, a candidate must be a member of the junior or senior class and have been in attendance at Edison High School for the equivalent of one semester.  Some candidates may be ineligible for induction because of the semester ruling.  Many students, including students of military parents, are required to move with parents or guardians who have transferred for their work.  The present school principal will seek a recommendation from the previous school principal pursuant to the candidate’s selection.  Based on the recommendation of the previous principal, the faculty council may waive the semester regulation.
