Rhythm Skills

Here is a page for working on your rhythm reading skills! Here is a review of the rhythms we learned from our Word Wall in first and second grade:

This video is a demonstration of rhythm patterns with quarter notes, eighth notes and half notes. Try to clap and say the rhythms.

This video is a demonstration of rhythm patterns with quarter notes, eighth notes, half notes and quarter rests. Try to clap and say the rhythms.

Here is the green card video, which our third graders will be quizzed on. (Each student will do 4 patterns at the speed of his/her choice- slow or regular.) Start at 1:17 and stop at 2:36. (Not the other rhythms.)

These three videos are more challenging for reading rhythms in that they are not demonstrated. Also, there is a drumbeat sound in the background. Have fun and do your best!

This fun video has explanation of quarter notes, eighth notes, half notes as well as a longer note known as a whole note. (We will work on this rhythm later in the year.) While we use syllables like "tah" and "tee-tee" to say our rhythms, there are other systems that people use, with syllables like "doo" or numbers. Enjoy!
