Instrument Return Procedures – End of Year

4th grade: If your child wants to play the same instrument next year, we encourage you to keep the instrument over the summer.* Contact your vendor for more information.

The first BAND performance next year will be at an Edison High School varsity football game in October.

Consider enrolling in the Edison Summer Enrichment Band or Elementary Orchestra! Registration is open until May 31st. Visit the district website for more information www.edison.k12.nj.us

*Reasons to keep playing during the summer:

1. So that you don’t forget how to play.

Even if you only practice on the rainy days during the summer, you will be keeping those playing muscles (and your brain!) in shape for next year;

2. To save your parents money.

Instruments rented from Elefante Music and The Music Shop are rent-to-own. Contact the store to find out more information;

3. We can start playing in September.

If you return your instrument now and re-rent in the Fall, you will have to wait until the instruments are delivered in October.

5th grade: If you have selected Band/Orchestra as your middle school elective, we STRONGLY encourage you to keep the instrument over the summer.

NOT PLAYING NEXT YEAR?

1. Please call The Music Shop or Elefante Music to request a return authorization number.
2. Write that number on a piece of paper and tape it to the OUTSIDE of the instrument case.
3. Once the return authorization number is taped to the case, return the instrument to school for pick-up.

If you fail to follow this procedure for returning the instrument, additional fees may result. Remember: the rental contract is between the parent and vendor.
