Vicki Jenkins is a graduate of the New School for Social Research where she studied psychology and holds her M.A. in Dance Education from the University of Northern Colorado. Ms. Jenkins has performed in both the commercial and concert worlds. She was a member of the Jette’ Performance company and danced in music videos and traveled for industrials as well as teaching and judging. She has showcased her own choreography at STEPS, Riverside Church and Dance Space as well as choreographing a fitness video for children with Denise Austin. A former SAG member she has appeared in numerous television shows and films experiencing as much as she can to bring back to her students.
Mrs. Jenkins' passion has always been teaching and in 1999 began teaching at STEPS on Broadway in both the pre-professional division and the children’s program. She has trained dancers that have appeared in Broadway shows, film, and company work. Her teaching has taken her across the U.S., Canada, Hawaii, and Maylasia.
In 2013 she moved into public education and began teaching at Plainfield Academy for the Performing arts where she shaped the dance departments into a blossoming program. In 2017 Mrs. Jenkins joined the Edison School District and began the dance program at both JPS and EHS. In 2018 she began full-time at Edison High and is excited to grow the program. Mrs. Jenkins is also the director of the EHS dance ensemble and the choreographer for the musicals.
