Out of My Mind follows a girl named Melody Brooks. Melody Brooks, is an intelligent eleven-year-old girl with cerebral palsy who has a photographic memory and a deep love for words but cannot speak or walk. The story highlights her frustration at being trapped inside her own body, surrounded by words and thoughts she cannot express, and the constant misjudgment from others who fail to recognize her brilliant mind.  As the reader, we go through Melody's journey to find her voice and challenges us to look beyond physical disabilities to see the individual within.
