Welcome to CP! We are looking forward to working with you and your child this year. Here is important information you need to know about our year together in CP:
School begins 7:50am
Dismissal 2:25pm
Students should arrive in the classroom no earlier than 7:35am. Please do your part to help your child arrive on time every day.
Our CP Family (grades 2-5) will all use the main entrance only.

Adults may not get out of the car.
At the end of each day your child will go to one of three places: the bus, Kids Club/Wise Guys, or parent pick up area at the sidewalk along the south wall.
For those of you driving, parent pick up will begin at 2:25pm, please DO NOT come before 2:20pm or you will be asked to leave. Please have your car name tag clearly visible in large print, with your child’s last name, and the home room teacher of your child/children.

There are 3 ways to report an absence for your student:
Online - Login to the Parent Portal, click on Infinite Campus icon, click the “more” link on the bottom left, select absence request and fill in the information, Click here for a tutorial on how to excuse your student online.
Email - email Jing Liang (Yuanjing.Liang@edinaschools.org) with student name, grade, date of absence, reason for absence, your name and contact information.
Phone - Call the attendance line at 952-848-4702 and provide student name, grade, date of absence, reason for absence, your name and contact information. Please spell the student’s last name.
If your child arrives late or needs to be dismissed before the end of the day, please sign-in/out in the office.
If there is a change in your child’s transportation schedule, please send an email to your child’s teacher by the morning of that day.
Lunch
Each day your child needs to know before coming to school what lunch option they will have. Here is the link to the district breakfast and lunch menus.
We will eat in the classroom and when weather permits, we will eat outside.
Highlands is a peanut/nut-free school.
If you haven’t already created a meal account, listed under the "Student Meal Accounts" page on the Edina Public Schools Website.
Your child may qualify for free or reduced-price meals including breakfast. Please refer to the “Food and Nutrition Services” web page for more information.
Recess
The children will go outside every day. Please help your child get in the routine of checking the weather daily so your child is dressed comfortably to be outside for recess, snack break, and outdoor learning. Please see the Outdoor Learning tab for specific information on clothing recommendations.
Due to many diverse food allergies students have between our two classrooms, please do not bring treats of any kind to school for birthdays or parties.
