Description: Edina High School students are invited to participate in a conservation research expedition to the Caribbean Island of Dominica (open to current EHS 8th-grade, freshmen & sophomores). This two-week learning experience will be coordinated and run through the conservation group Operation Wallacea. Students spend one week at a forest site performing research with scientists from around the world to help with Dominca’s conservation efforts. Students spend another week at a marine site to earn their SCUBA diving certification and learn marine biology and ocean conservation.

Description: Experience Glacier National Park’s pristine forests, rugged mountains, thundering waterfalls, and spectacular lakes with your family. Glacier contains hundreds of miles of hiking trails. Our guides will help you explore some of these spectacular trails. We’ll travel to trailheads along the famous Going to the Sun Highway, stopping to take in the scenic vistas that make this national park an American icon. Spend the evenings around the campfire, enjoying s’mores in the Lake McDonald Valley. Learn more about the history, wildlife, and ecosystems of the Northern Rockies and Glacier National Park with Ranger talks at the Apgar Lake campground. Students will also take part in white water rafting in the park!

Description: In the fall of 2023, college and high school students, along with North Hennepin Community College faculty, high school leaders, and YMCA staff, will participate in an 8-week, 4-credit college class. This course includes 8 weeks of online learning using D2L Brightspace, several in-person community-building meetings, and a 5-day learning expedition to YMCA Camp Northern Lights https://www.ymcanorth.org/camps/camp_northern_lights.
