The Professional Learning Unit, which is part of the Education Development Institute (EDI), has prepared for you a series of asynchronous professional learning opportunities. These asynchronous courses are available through Blackboard.
What courses are available to you in Blackboard?
Introduction to Safeguarding in Qatar Foundation (QF) Schools- mandatory
Google Workspace in QF Schools- highly encouraged
Introduction to Microsoft Office (MS) Teams- highly encouraged
Please note that you will be able to access these courses only after you are issued your QF Schools Gmail account by the IT team.
After receiving your Gmail account, the next step would be for you to get familiar with how to navigate Blackboard (learning management platform for professional learning) so you can access these courses.
In addition to this, here is the EDI Catalogue where you can find a plethora of professional learning opportunities EDI is offering to you throughout the year.

WHAT IS BLACKBOARD?
Blackboard is the learning management platform the Education Development Institute is using for hosting various synchronous and asynchronous professional learning courses or programs offered to Qatar Foundation Schools and beyond.
HOW TO ACCESS BLACKBOARD?
1. Visit EDI blackboard page through this link: https://edi.blackboard.com/
2. Username: (Use the first 6 characters of your QF Schools Gmail account). (i) if your school Gmail is 2yn925@qad.qfschools.qa, then you only use 2yn925.
3. Password: Input the same password used to access you school Gmail account.
4. Click on the word “Courses” from the navigation bar on the left. Upon clicking, all enrolled courses will be visible.

Course 1:
INTRODUCTION TO SAFEGUARDING IN QATAR FOUNDATION SCHOOLS
ABOUT THE COURSE:
Description:
Introduction to Child Protection in Qatar Foundation Schools is an asynchronous course based on Qatar Foundation Schools policies and designed for new employees who have regular contact with children and youth. This asynchronous course aims to build a solid working knowledge of the difference between protection and child protection, clarify procedures, roles and responsibilities around child protection as well as recognize and respond appropriately to concerns of child abuse and neglect.

In order to access this course you need your QF Gmail version by IT
There is no time limit for the final evaluation
You can have multiple attempts to achieve 90 percent and complete the course
Participants who did not pass the assessment may retake the course at a later time
A certificate of completion will be issued upon successful completion of the course assessment
Schools will be notified of successful and unsuccessful completion of the assessment

GOOGLE WORKSPACE IN QATAR FOUNDATION (QF) SCHOOLS
ABOUT THE COURSE:
DESCRIPTION:
There are so many educational tutorials about Google Workspace applications online! Are you looking for carefully curated resources that cover key functionalities of the main Google Workspace applications? If yes, this asynchronous course is for you. By engaging with this course, you can access short video tutorials that do just that. You can access them at any time once you enroll in this course.

You are highly encouraged to complete this course if you don't have at least an intermediate knowledge and skills of using Google Workspace or if you have the Level 1 or level 2 Google for Education Certifications
A Certificate of Completion will be issued on successful completion of the course assessment

The Introduction to MS Teams session is an asynchronous course in Blackboard. It provides a series of curated short videos that guide participants to learn the basics of navigating and using Microsoft Teams. Participants will learn various skills from joining a team, to how to set up and facilitate collaborative and interactive meetings with their team.
