Make three calls at the thatched cottage

A long time ago, China was divided into three kingdoms: Wei, Shu and Wu. Shu was a weak state. Liu Bei was Head of Shu Kingdom and he was searching for Zhu Ge Liang , a wise man to be his military strategist. However, Zhu Ge Liang stayed at a far place. Liu Bei was determined to recruit him, so together with his sworn brothers, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei, they went to Zhu Ge Liang's hometown to look for him. Unfortunately , they could not find him, they returned back to their home but they did not give up. They tried a second time but Zhu Ge Liang was still not at home. They tried a third time but this time, they finally found him. Their efforts finally paid off. Zhu Ge Liang was moved by their sincerity and decided to become Liu Bei's Prime Minister. Under his guidance, Shu Kingdom became a strong state. Later, people use"三顾茅庐" to describe a person who treats someone with sincerity and eagerness.

Xinyao (新谣) is unique to Singapore. It is a contemporary Mandarin vocal genre that emerged and rose to fame in Singapore between late 70's to 80's. Xinyao songs are composed and sung by Singaporeans and it is an avenue for them to express their thoughts and feelings around themes like friendships or love stories.
