About Me

Hey, y'all! Welcome to the library! I'm Ms. Taylor, and this is my 11th year in middle school education and my sixth year with Edgefield County School District! I graduated from USC Aiken in 2013 with a Bachelor's Degree in Middle Level Education with concentrations in Mathematics and English Language Arts. In 2021, I graduated with my Master's Degree in Library and Information Science through USC Columbia. In my time as an educator, I have experience teaching Language Arts, Math, Pre-Algebra, Read 180, Math Enrichment, and Reading Enrichment.

My family is very important to me. I have always enjoyed teaching people things and helping them become more successful, so it was no surprise when I decided to become a teacher. I chose to concentrate my career in middle school education after watching my brother experience intense bullying in his middle school years. I want to be a voice of hope and reason for other students who may be struggling like my brother did. (He's a happy and successful college graduate now!)

Some of my favorite things include reading, road trips, and Dunkin' iced coffee. In my spare time (if there is such a thing), I love to bake from scratch, go to the movies, and spend time with my family. My all-time favorite part of working in a school is getting to know the students. I love helping them discover and develop their own love for reading and matching them with books they'll enjoy!

Reading Philosophy

Reading is the foundation of education. When we teach our children to learn to love reading, we fling the door open wide to a lifetime of learning. Many students (and adults) claim they hate reading. What I've found in my time as an educator is that, more often than not, they don't truly hate reading. They simply haven't found what they love yet. I'm on a mission to help my students discover it.

Before she had to move, my
sister and I would meet for
coffee and a Bible study every morning before work!
