Our Kindergarten and 1st grade students get to check out 1 book per library visit.
Students in 2nd-5th grade get to check out two books each visit. Students are allowed to renew books, but we need to see them to complete the process.
Overdue notices will be sent home with report cards and interim reports. We will also send them out after students return from long breaks.
- Our books are for everyone to share - so please handle them responsibly.
- Please keep books away from younger siblings, pets, food, and all drinks. Younger siblings like to color in, chew, and/or tear pages because they don't understand. And we never want to get food or drink damages as that can cause mold to grow and attract insects like ants and roaches...yuck!
- Reading outside is a wonderful thing, just make sure to bring your book back inside with you! Books vs. Rain??? Rain wins every time and that means a book has to be replaced.
- Lost or damaged books will need to be replaced. A notice will be sent home.
- If your family plans to leave Merriwether Elementary, please return all books before moving.
If a book has been lost, it will need to be replaced. A note will be sent home about the cost of the book so that we can order a new copy. Please always search for the book before sending in payment as we do not refund books that are found after the fee has been settled - we've already placed the order.
With regard to accidents, we know they can happen easily. We spend the first few weeks of school discussing book responsibility and care.
If a book is damaged, please return the book to the library with a note explaining what happened. We will do our best to repair any issues that we can, however if the damages are beyond repair, a notice will be sent home for the replacement cost.
