No - you just need to have a passion for STEM. Quantum industries will require workers with all types of interests and skill sets from project managers, technicians, scientists, administration staff, economists, computer programmers, trades people, lawyers, doctors - you name it! This industry requires all types of personnel. Throughout the program, you will meet experts from a wide range of fields.
You will be learning about a wide range of quantum industries and how quantum technologies will revolutionise our understanding of computing, communications, medicine, biology, astronomy and more. There is something in this program for everyone. The workforce is shifting to quantum technologies in a wide range of STEM fields. Will YOU be ready?
For Year 11 and 12 Physics students: this conference will be directly linked to Unit 4 that is part of your BSSS studies and you will be well-positioned to be well ahead. Get in early and understand the world of quantum before you even cover it in class!
The program is being run by the ACT Education Directorate and is being supported by local industries at NO COST. This is a free three day program for any student in Years 10 to 12 enrolled in an ACT public school. You will be required to bring your lunch each day and your positive attitude!
Spaces in this program are limited. You will be asked to apply for the program by filling in a Google Form and providing the name of one of your teachers who will be able to be a supporting referee whom we may contact if needed. The applications are due no later than 6 June, 2025.
This program will be held at the ACT Education Directorate's Academy of Future Skills (Mungga-iri Jingee building), located on the grounds of Caroline Chisholm School (108 Hambidge Crescent, Chisholm). Participants must find their own transportation to and from the Centre each day (9am to 3:00 pm). Offsite tours are being organised and will depart from the Centre.
Once you register, you will be provided with a standard excursion note to be signed by your parents. We will notify your school each day, if you are still in session in Week 10, to mark you as being present at this ACT Education-led event.
