Dear Macgregor Community
I can’t believe it’s the end of Week 8 already. Time flies when you’re having fun! We have had another busy couple of weeks, with lots of quality learning and laughter. The visiting School Review panel has been blown away by the learning, kindness and general happiness of our students. Please read on to hear more about initiatives happening in and around the school.
School Review
Thanks to all the parents who spoke to the School Review panel at this morning's Coffee and Cookie Community Catch-Up. The panel noticed the positive vibe in the community and appreciated your valuable and honest feedback. The panel is currently drafting a report based on their findings and will share this with the school and community in the coming weeks. The outcomes of the review will help us set our strategic direction and write our new (three to five year) School Improvement Plan. Thank you to all members of the school community for your help and support with this process.
Minister’s Student Congress
We were very fortunate to have five student school leaders represent our school at the 2024 Minister’s Student Congress. The Minister’s Student Congress provided an opportunity for ACT public school students to come together to discuss issues which matter to them and affect their education.
This year’s Congress focused on subjects like:
Artificial Intelligence
Mental Health Supports
Strengthening School and Community Connections.
We look forward to seeing the outcomes of the students’ wonderful ideas and feedback.
National Kids in Space Program
Earlier this week Macgregor’s STEM enrichment team represented our school at the Kids in Space program at the Academy of Future Skills Centre in Chisholm. Our students worked collaboratively in teams to solve space related challenges and did a magnificent job representing our school. At the end of the event, the Macgregor team was awarded the Kids in Space Peer Prize trophy, one of two awards presented on the day! I would like to thank Maddison Mielens and Claire O’Connor for their wonderful work promoting STEM across the school and for supporting our students to attend on the day.
