Term 3 has been action-packed, with Year 2 students engaging in a variety of fun and educational activities!
Aqua Safe
Year 2 had an amazing week learning about water safety. Each day presented new challenges, with students gaining fantastic skills in the pool. Here’s what some Year 2 students had to say:
Zach: “Aqua Safe helps you learn to swim. The routine is to get to school and be prepared.”
Rania: “We learn to paddle, try new swimming tricks, and believe in ourselves.”
Lekden: “You exercise your legs, knees, and even your hands!”
Potato Olympics
In celebration of the 2024 Paris Olympics, we hosted our own “Potato Olympics!” Students decorated their potato athletes and competed in events like the potato shot put, weightlifting, and sprint. There was even an opening ceremony!
Persuasive Writing
In literacy, Year 2 has been learning the art of persuasive writing using texts like Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, Hey, Little Ant, and I Wanna Iguana. We had great fun trying to convince our teachers that we needed a class pet!
Fractions in Maths
In maths, we explored fractions, learning how the numerator represents the coloured pieces and the denominator represents the total number of pieces. To showcase our understanding, we followed instructions to make some delicious pizza fractions!
Special Person’s Day
We had a fantastic time on Special Person’s Day, showing our guests all the incredible work we’ve been doing. It was a day full of smiles and sharing.
Ultimate Frisbee
This term, we were fortunate to have Gecko Sports come and teach us Ultimate Frisbee! In our first lesson, we learned the proper frisbee throw and how to catch with our "crocodile hands."
Year 2 has had an exciting and rewarding term, full of learning and growth!
