Dear Macgregor Community,
Thank you to our families for your ongoing partnership over the past fortnight. With the release of Semester 1 reports last week and the completion of parent-teacher interviews this week, it has been a valuable time to reflect on student learning and celebrate progress together.
We appreciate the strong engagement from families in these conversations. Working in partnership with parents and carers is critical in supporting each student’s growth, and it was wonderful to see the shared commitment to helping our students succeed.
Across the school, classrooms continue to remain settled and purposeful, with students engaging positively in their learning as consistent routines are embedded. Please read on to hear more about the learning and initiatives happening across our school.
Congratulations to our wonderful students for reaching their mystery target of 4,222 W@M tokens! What a fantastic achievement.
To celebrate, we will be holding a Boogie and Blockbuster Reward in Week 11. Yes, students will get to enjoy both rewards as a way of recognising their efforts.
On a mystery day during the week, Macgregor’s very own DJ, Lachy “Mad Dog” Malcolm, will host a daytime disco at the top playground near the North Building during break time.
In addition, each cohort will select a session during the week to watch a movie together, providing a fun and relaxed opportunity to celebrate as a group.
This is a great way to acknowledge our students for consistently demonstrating our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) expectations of being safe, respectful, and responsible learners.
Thank you to our students for their outstanding efforts, and to our community for your ongoing support in building such a positive school culture at Macgregor.
To conclude Term 2, our whole-school focus on Engagement Norms has continued to strengthen consistency in classrooms and support active learning for all students.
Earlier this week, we welcomed a visiting team of educators as part of our Student-Centred Improvement Visit (SCIV). This provided an opportunity to share our work and receive feedback on how our engagement routines are being implemented across the school.
The feedback was very positive. Visitors noted that students were engaged in their learning, working purposefully, and experiencing success in lessons. They observed that students are becoming increasingly confident with classroom routines and expectations, which supports focus and participation.
They also commented on the clarity of teaching across classrooms, with students understanding what they were learning and why. There is growing consistency in practice across the school, and a strong sense that teachers are making the most of valuable learning time.
Importantly, the team recognised the deliberate approach we have taken to building consistent teaching practices and the impact this is having on student engagement.
These routines are designed to ensure that all students are actively involved in learning throughout each lesson. Rather than only a few students responding, all learners are encouraged to think, speak, and participate regularly.
You may notice your child:
Talking about sharing ideas with a partner
Being expected to answer in full sentences
Using tools like whiteboards to show their thinking
Demonstrating strong focus during explanations
These are all part of developing confident, capable learners.
Our focus now is to continue building consistency across all classrooms and further strengthen these routines so they become embedded in everyday learning. We will also continue to support teachers to observe each other’s practice and share effective strategies, ensuring the best possible outcomes for all students.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to build a strong culture of learning at Macgregor.

Dear Parents and Carers,
On the last day of term, we will be holding a Pyjama Day to raise funds for new playground equipment.
Students are invited to wear their pyjamas to school and are encouraged to bring a gold coin donation to take part. All proceeds will go towards enhancing our playground for the enjoyment of all students.
Thank you for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Sahana & Kayden
From the Environment Committee
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to announce the return of the Green Team, which will commence in Term 3. This initiative is open to all senior students who are interested in getting involved and making a positive impact on our school environment.
The Green Team will meet every Wednesday during first break at the bubblers, where students will be organised into their assigned tasks. If the program is successful, we hope to extend this opportunity to younger students in Term 4.
Mrs Reeves is also very excited to be helping out.
Thank you for your support.
