CURRICULUM PLANNING

Suggested Tips for Structuring your Day

  1. Set a schedule! One that provides freedom and flexibility, while also making sure you get everything done. Have a look at our curriculum planning advice below in order to best plan out your child's learning experiences.

  1. Get some resources ready. The Home Learning Hub is developing a bank of resources to assist families in navigating the large selection of education resources available online. Head over to our year level and other pages and browse to help get you started. *If you require stationary items to support your child's home learning, please email their teacher.

  1. Bear in mind that your child will only have a limited attention span whilst you are explaining how to do an activity. For example, a year 1 student who is 6 years of age has the ability to listen to instructions for no more than 6 minutes at a time.

While learning is flexible, we recommended that within a day of learning, each student

  • Reading (read to self, read to someone, and listening to reading spread out across the day)

  • English activities – (journal writing, story writing, spelling, handwriting etc.)

  • Maths activities - (maths dice games, online programs, problem solving worksheets etc.)

  • Physical activity - (dance and movement videos, indoor/outdoor exercise etc.)

  • Integrated Learning (Science, History, Geography, Digital Technology, The Arts, Home Investigations etc.)
