Why mess with a legend?

Entry and Exit Tickets have been successfully used to gauge student understanding in classrooms all over the world. These items can be used to gather immediate data on their own or gather data over the course of a class. These can be prepared beforehand or on the spot to check for understanding.

Entry/Exit Tickets can help teachers:

• Vary their data collection by allowing responses to be anonymous or not

• By being a quick task, no more than a minute or two

• Gauge group understanding at the start, during, or at the end of a lesson

• Exit tickets are a great chance to link previous learning to what students are currently working through

• Not all exit tickets have to be written - they can be verbal, drawn, completing a task, or digital!

• Having student write an exit ticket for you will help the variety of the task, and will also demonstrate different skills learned by your students

• These can be anonymous, and can be used to gather group data like comfort with a topic or well-being check-ins
