In Photography & Media Technology I, students will learn to use industry-standard software such as Photoshop and Lightroom for photo editing, Adobe Animate for animation, and CapCut for video editing. Students will explore sound production using Sound Trap and create visually appealing graphics with Canva. This course encourages students to express their ideas effectively through various (CTS) media formats, fostering Students technical ability and artistic creativity in the ever changing world of media.
The Intermediate Photography course offers students a variety of projects that not only enhance their understanding of photographic techniques but also connect them to the historical and practical aspects of the medium. Light Painting, allows students to experiment with long exposure techniques to create stunning visual effects using light sources. The Forensic Photography project introduces students to the essential skills needed for capturing evidence in a legal context. In Studio Portraiture, students learn how to manipulate lighting and backgrounds to create professional-quality portraits that convey emotion and stylistic tone. In Nature Photography students connect with the environment, capturing the beauty of nature based off of the techniques of Ansel Adams. This course is designed to challenge students, foster their creativity, and equip them with skills that will serve them in their photographic pursuits.
In Media & Technology II, students engage in a variety of projects that inspire hands-on experience and critical thinking. Students begin by designing an album cover, which encourages students to think about stylistic choices while understanding branding principles. Music composition and sound design that allows students to experiment with sound and develop their approach to audio production. Additionally, logo design emphasizes the importance of effective communication through graphics tools like Adobe Illustrator. This course provides lessons on copyright law and intellectual property rights which ensures that students understand the legal aspects of media and content creation. In this course students not only enhance their abilities but also have the chance to prepare themselves for a potential career in the ever-changing field of media and technology.
In Advanced photography, students will get the option to explore different methods of photographic composition, learn about photojournalism, and research the darkroom developing process. Students will also have the opportunity to collaborate on student-created photography projects, allowing them to express their unique perspectives while applying the principles they have learned in previous photography courses.
As part of their exploration, students will delve into advanced photography projects that encourage experimentation with different styles and techniques. The course emphasizes the importance of creativity and innovation, guiding students to push the boundaries of their artistic expression. By the end of the course, learners will have developed a diverse portfolio showcasing their growth as photographers. As a 30 level photography student they will be expected to showcase/display works from their final portfolio in an art show.
Advanced Media Technology course is a 30-level course which offers an exploration into the world of media and design. This course empowers students to engage in self-directed, hands-on projects that cultivate and hone their technical skills. This provides students with the opportunity to select and pitch final projects that align with their interests. Some examples include designing an album cover, where they will learn about visual aesthetics and branding; compose music, focusing on the nuances of melody and rhythm; create animations that combine storytelling with technology; produce videos that emphasize cinematography and editing techniques; develop brand designs that reflect market trends and consumer engagement.
