Our Drama program builds confidence, creativity, and performance skills. Drama 10 introduces improvisation, mime, voice control, and scene work, while advanced courses like Drama 20, 30, and Performing Arts focus on live performances and deeper theatrical techniques.
For those passionate about the stage, Advanced Acting and Musical Theatre provide opportunities to refine skills in acting, dance, and vocal performance through integrated projects and live shows. DRAMA 10 (3 credits) Students will develop confidence, concentration, creativity, and communication skills through study of improvisation, mime, speech control, and voice control. Students are introduced to staging elements and basic analysis of plot, character, and theme through scene work and one act plays. It is recommended that students have an interest in theatre arts and a willingness to explore the unfamiliar.Â
DRAMA 10, 20, 30 PERFORMING ARTS (5 credits) This course is designed for students with previous drama and stage experience. Performances are a compulsory component of the course: students will participate in various performances in the school and/or community.
ADVANCED ACTING Advanced Acting provides a continuum of theatre experiences that expands foundational skills outlined in Drama 10, 20, and 30. Advanced Acting 15, 25, 35 is offered off timetable. Students who participate in school drama performances can earn credits in Advanced Acting.
MUSICAL THEATRE The Musical Theatre program aims to provide integrated study in dance, drama and vocal music for students who exhibit special skills in these areas. Students will further develop their competencies through project work and performance. The program will foster an appreciation for the form and a professional attitude towards performance, preparing students for post-secondary and life-long theatre experiences. Students who participate in school drama performances can earn credits in Musical Theatre.
