Creative Writing 25 expands on this, focusing on longer, more polished works like short stories, poetry, and songs. In this course, students explore their writing passions across various creative genres. They refine their writing skills in innovative ways. The course is built upon increasing sophistication in the understanding of concepts and application of strategies and skills that provide students with the opportunity to engage in the work in creative and innovative ways. In the 3-credit course students will build a digital portfolio to demonstrate skills which will assist them in creating a collection of work.

Development of ideas: Where do ideas come from? Journaling, observation, sensory stimulus, memory
Descriptive writing: Using imagery to enhance writing.
Metaphorical Language: Writing figuratively.
Writer’s Craft: Drafting, organizing, revising.
Voice: Tone, Personal writing, humour, variety of points of view.
Creative Writing 25 is a continuation of Creative Writing 15. This is for students who wish to move their writing from techniques to longer, more advanced pieces of writing (short stories, poems, songs etc). This course is designed for students who have taken Creative Writing 15 and who wish to revise and expand their writing into more polished pieces. In this class, depth and style will be the focus, with students working on a few, highly revised pieces. Creative Writing 25 builds on these foundations, guiding students toward more advanced, polished pieces with a focus on depth and style. Whether crafting short stories, poetry, or songs, this program helps students develop their voice and showcase their talents!
