7th Grade Geography

Unit 1 Introduction to Geography

This unit begins with God creating the earth in Genesis. Students will identify the locations of human communities that populated the major regions of the world and describe how humans adapted to a variety of environments. Then they will discuss the exchanges of plants, animals, technology, culture, and ideas among Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries and the major economic and social effects on each continent. Romans 8:19-22 states, "For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now." This unit explains that all creation will come under God's authority.

Unit 2 United States & Canada

This unit explores the natural resources in the United States and Canada. The Bible says in Genesis that He thought His creation was "good." This means we need to take care of what He created for us. Genesis 2:15 says, "The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it." He also gave man responsibility to keep His creation pure. Numbers 35:33-34 explains, "You shall not pollute the land in which you live.... You shall not defile the land in which you live, in which I also dwell; for I the LORD dwell among the Israelites."
