Howdy, partner! Welcome to the official guide for 99 Nights in the Wild West. This is a game of survival, strategy, and a little bit of luck. Use this wiki to help you brave the frontier and make it to day 99. 🤠
Your one and only goal is to survive for 99 days. You'll need to manage your resources carefully, make smart decisions, and face the dangers of the untamed West. If you run out of Health or Food, your journey will end. Make it to the end, and you've conquered the frontier!
Keeping an eye on your stats is the key to survival. Each one is crucial.
Day: Tracks your progress toward the 99-day goal.
Health ❤️: Your life force. Starts at 100. If it hits 0, it's game over. You'll lose health from bandit attacks, rattlesnake bites, and heatwaves.
Reputation ⭐: How you're known in the West. Starts at 0. A high reputation gets you better prices and opportunities, while a low one makes life harder.
Gold 💰: Your money. Used to buy supplies, upgrades, and medical care.
Food 🍗: You eat one food ration each night. If you run out, you die of dysentery.
Ammo 🔫: Needed for hunting and fighting bandits.
Pelts, Herbs, & Poultices:
Pelts: Gained from hunting and sold for gold at the Trading Post.
Herbs: Found occasionally while hunting.
Poultices: Crafted from 3 herbs at your homestead. A poultice restores 25 health.
Each day, you have a set of actions you can perform from your camp in the wilderness.
Pan for Gold: A reliable way to find a small amount of gold. Less effective during a Heatwave (costs health). Impossible during Rain.
Hunt for Food: Costs 1 ammo. Your main way to gather Food, Pelts, and the occasional Herb. Less effective during a Heatwave (costs health). Impossible during Rain.
Visit Town: Takes you to the local settlement, which has several important locations.
Visit Homestead: (After purchase) Go to your personal plot of land.
Wait for Next Day: If you're well-stocked, you can simply rest and move on to the next day.
The town is your hub for supplies, work, and recovery.
Here you can buy crucial supplies and permanent upgrades. Your Reputation affects the prices!
Buy Food & Ammo: Essential for survival.
Upgrade Pan (50 Gold): Increases the amount of gold you can find while panning.
Upgrade Rifle (100 Gold): Increases your success chance when hunting and fighting bandits.
Sell the pelts you've gathered from hunting. If your reputation is 30 or higher, the trader will offer you a better price (4 gold per pelt instead of 3).
The Sheriff posts bounties on local outlaws. Taking on a bounty requires you to track the target for a few days before you can hunt them down. Success brings a big gold and reputation reward, but failure can result in lost health and reputation.
Feeling under the weather? The doc can patch you up for a price. A full heal costs 20 Gold, but he also sells a "Miracle Tonic" for a higher price.
For 200 Gold, you can buy your own Homestead. This is a massive advantage, unlocking:
Rest for a Day: Resting at your homestead restores 20 health while only consuming one day.
Upgrade Farm: For a scaling cost, you can improve your farm, which will automatically produce food for you every day.
Crafting: Use the crafting bench to turn 3 Herbs into one Health Poultice.
Feeling lucky? You can visit the Saloon to play Blackjack for a 5 Gold bet.
The West is unpredictable. Be prepared for anything.
Sunny ☀️: Normal conditions.
Rainy 🌧️: Heavy rain makes the trails muddy. You cannot Hunt or Pan for Gold.
Heatwave 🔥: The blistering sun saps your strength. Hunting and Panning for Gold will cost you 5 Health.
At the start of a new day, you might encounter a random event. This could be anything from finding a lost pouch of gold to a rattlesnake bite!
You may be ambushed by bandits! You'll have two choices:
Fight!: Costs 2 ammo. If you win, you'll earn gold and reputation. If you lose, you'll lose health, gold, and reputation.
Flee!: You might escape safely, but you could also lose food in the process. You'll always lose a little reputation for showing cowardice.
If your reputation gets high enough (around 50), you might attract the attention of a certain gang leader. You may be invited to join the Van der Linde gang.
Joining provides an immediate boost of supplies (gold, food, ammo) and a large reputation increase.
Being a member unlocks unique, high-risk, high-reward events like Gang Missions and dangerous Camp Raids by Pinkertons.
