Graduation Requirements
To be promoted from 9th to 10th grade: You will need 6 credits, one which must be an English credit required for graduation.
To be promoted from 10th to 11th grade: You will need 13 credits, one which must be an English credit required for graduation.
To be promoted from 11th to 12th: You will need 20 credits, two which must be an English credit required for graduation.
Graduation Requirements:
The information below shows the minimum requirements needed to obtain a high school diploma in the state of North Carolina. In addition to the 22 credits required by NC, Edgecombe County Public Schools requires 6 additional credits, for a total of 28 credits needed to graduate.
In order to graduate: You will need to have 28 credits with the following required credits.
(4 credits) English 1, 2, 3, & 4
(4 credits) Math 1, 2, 3, & 4th math
(3 Science credits) Physical science, Biology, & Earth and Environmental Science
(4 History credits) World History, Founding Principles: Civic Literacy, American History, and Economics and Personal Finance
(1 credit) Health and PE, including CPR
(6 credits) Academic Electives - 2 elective credits of any combination from either: CTE (Career Technical Education), Arts Education, Second Languages
***It is recommended, but not required, to have a four course concentration from one of the following: CTE, JROTC, Arts Education, Any Other Subject Area***
Second Language - Not required for graduation. A two credit minimum is recommended but not required for admission to a university in the UNC System. This option is effective for students applying for the fall of 2024 and later. Students must have two additional credits in English, math, history, science, computer science if the second languages are not taken.
