Founded in 1949, the Economics and Commerce Students’ Society proudly represents over 6,000 of UWA’s Business School students as the official faculty society. For over 75 years, we have been embedded in Western Australia’s business landscape, with vibrant community engagement and a strong network across industry and of alumni.
As the official Faculty Society for the UWA Business School, we seek to enrich the student experiences of our members during their tertiary studies, ensuring the 5,700+ UWA Business School students receive more than a degree.
Our Mission
ECOMS exists to enrich the student experience of UWA Business School students by providing professional, academic, and social opportunities that help members develop beyond the classroom and build meaningful connections with industry and their peers.
Our goal to deliver our students with more than a degree is reflected in our three core principles:
Ensuring Business School students have a high-quality education
Providing students with exciting, and fulfilling university experiences
Assisting students in their professional development, as they embark on their career pathway
Our Core Value
Our core values guide our mission and purpose, ensuring that we continue striving to deliver the best experience possible for our students.
Inclusivity: A welcoming and diverse community, connecting students of all backgrounds through academic, professional, and social experiences.
Legacy: With nearly a century of history, ECOMS is committed to passing on knowledge, networks, and opportunities to future generations.
Leadership: A platform for students to develop confidence, skills, and industry connections, while upholding excellence in every initiative
Community: We foster strong ties between students, alumni, and industry, creating a lifelong network that extends beyond university.
