An Extended Essay can feel like an attempt on Everest - "Its just to big" , "I'll never write 4000 words", "Where do I start?, "How do I start?"
However, if we think of the essay as a series of subtopic or mini-essays, it can all look a lot more manageable.
What if you had to write a 200 word paragraph on a topic? Could you do some research and write 200 words? It's nothing right?
So what if you had to do that 200 word mini-essay, 20 times over several weeks and months? Maybe 200 words per week? Doable?
So, it's all about turning the mountain into a few little molehills......
Use the steps below to identify where you want to go and plan some stepping stones to get you on your way.
Each step is easy enough..
The INTRODUCTION can be your context statement, perhaps extended a bit to give more background (300-400 words)
You need a CONCLUSION and a METHODOLOGY, so after a Context statement and /or Introduction, that only leaves 16 or so subtopics
You now only need to write 16 lots of 200 words, which is easy
Final tidy up and cross checking with Subject checklists and criteria can happen with your supervisors assistance.
...and now relax.....
