What is the difference between DRAMA GROUPS and LAMDA EXAM classes?
Drama Groups
No exam element
Focus on ensemble skills: collaboration, listening, problem-solving, and group creativity
Use theatre games and “theatre sports” to explore voice and body in a team setting
Build confidence, self-expression, and social interaction through group work
May include costumes, makeup, puppetry, clowning, stage combat, magic, or filming (depending on teacher specialties)
End-of-year showcase features a group performance of a short theatrical play for family and friends
LAMDA Exam Classes
Group classes prepare each student for an individual exam
Focus on solo performance skills: clear speech, characterisation, interpretation, and stage presence
After warmups, students work individually or in pairs on exam pieces (different from classmates’ pieces)
Medal-level exams can earn UCAS Tariff points for UK university admissions
End-of-year showcase features individual performances of exam pieces for family and friends
Formal LAMDA exams are closed to the public
