Dear Teachers/Students/Staff/Community Members,
We are excited to celebrate the rich tapestry of languages and cultures within our school community with two special events:
International Mother Language Day (February 21st): A global celebration recognizing the importance of linguistic diversity and the preservation of mother languages.
Marathi Language Day (February 27th): A celebration of the Marathi language, its rich history, and its cultural significance.
To mark these important occasions, we invite you to participate in a unique and nostalgic activity: a postcard exchange! We'll be taking a trip back in time to an era when handwritten messages were cherished and communication was a more personal experience.
What's the Activity?
We're asking everyone – students, teachers, and staff – to reflect on their experiences with language, its cultural significance, and the beauty of multilingualism by completing a short questionnaire and writing a message on a special postcard.
Why Postcards?
In today's digital world, we often communicate through quick texts and emails. This activity aims to transport us back to a time when handwritten letters and postcards held a special place in our lives. We want to emphasize the emotional connection to language and the impact of personal, handwritten messages.
How to Participate:
On February 21st till 27th, we will have a designated station in the Secondary Library Where you can pick up a questionnaire and a postcard.
Take some time to reflect on the questions and write your message on the postcard.
Drop your completed postcard in the designated collection tray.
What Happens Next?
We will create a beautiful display of all the postcards, showcasing the diverse languages and heartfelt messages from our community.
We believe this activity will be a wonderful way to celebrate the power of language and foster a deeper appreciation for our diverse linguistic heritage. We encourage everyone to participate and make these celebrations truly special.
Sincerely,
Nita Mukadam & Ravindra Jadhav
