If your student will require medication while at school please make sure to come by the nurses office to sign proper paperwork.
All medications are secured in the nursing office and are only administered by the school nurse or other trained personnel.
Do not send any medication to school with your student, the parent/guardian must bring in the medicine and give consent for their child to receive the medication by completing proper paperwork.
Over the counter medications, ointments, and cough drops are considered medication and will need to be brought to the nurses office by a parent/guardian.
Controlled medications are counted when parent/guardian signs them in. Only a 30 day supply of any controlled medication can be kept in the nurses office at one time. The nurse will notify the parent when student is almost out of medication so more medication can be signed in if needed.
Only FDA approved medications within the therapeutic range may be administered.
Only medication given during regular school hours will be given at school.
No student is allowed to self administer medication without supervision from nurse or other trained personnel.
Students are allowed to self carry and administer an inhaler if proper paperwork is filled out by the parent and MD and given to the nurse.
