Program Definition 

The counseling program is based on student, school, family and community needs. The organization of the program's developmental activities are designed to be sequential and is organized by professional school counselors with the feedback and support of parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and the community. The program addresses the needs of all students by promoting student Intrapersonal effectiveness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Post-secondary Planning and Career Readiness and Personal Health and Safety. 



Delivery Components

Guidance Curriculum

Provides guidance lessons to all students that are composed of activities that teaches skills and techniques to promote healthy relationships, conflict resolution and self esteem.

Responsive Services

Provides short term counseling for students whose personal concerns are Interfering with their overall wellness. Support to students is offered as prevention, remediation or crisis response to a student in need.

Individual planning

Provides individualized planning with students to create short- and long term goals based on student input, data and various assessments. 

System Support

Identifies and coordinates activities and resources that will benefit students Indirectly based on the needs of the campus. Additionally, systems support involves evaluating the effectiveness of the school counseling program.


How do I speak with the Counselor?

Students wishing to speak with the counselor can request by asking permission from their teacher. Their teacher will then send me message/complete a counseling request form. 

As a school counselor, confidentiality is adhered to, unless there is a concern that a student is a danger to themselves or others, or if someone is hurting them. Parents can also request for the Counselor to speak with their child by sending a request to sharlene.neuls@ecisd.net
