Steph Rose Microscapes provides a bespoke exploration of the microscopic life on your property. I visit your landscape and collect samples from sites most likely to reveal interesting microalgae - creeks, dams, wetlands, coastal edges or a natural pool are perfect. Back in the lab, I examine the samples and curate a selection of imagery and film from the findings, paired with scientific insight into the species found. From there, you can choose how these discoveries are brought to life through fine‑art prints, photobooks, short films or a digital collection that celebrates the suite of microalgae on your land.

This offering is designed for those who want to showcase the living environment around them in a way that is both visually striking and uniquely meaningful.

A small number of commissions open each year so my works stays personal and grounded.

Rosella Ridge is 40 acres in the Byron Hinterland that was once a macadamia farm and now a regen property dedicated to restoring its original native big scrub rainforest.

It was a pleasure to capture the microscopic life that supports the recovering ecosystems of Rosella Ridge and create a piece that helps tell this inspiring story.
