Growing up in the Northern Rivers surrounded by creeks, beaches, mountains and rainforests imprints a great love for the arterial network of water that is the lifeblood for these parts. Over time, for me this has distilled into a serendipitous obsession with microalgae, the microscopic ancient organisms that are the ecological foundation to all these ecosystems. They are more diverse then we can say and are responsible for most of the oxygen we breathe. They exist quietly all around us, sustaining life on earth, going mostly unseen - a humble hero in my eyes!
Marine science was a natural study path for me, which led to working as a marine biologist. Lessons learnt, both professional and personal inspired me to start my own venture alongside my sister called East Coast Algae, a vision with microalgae biotech at its core and a dream to share this fascinating micro world with as many people as possible through the lens of my microscope.
I dream of revealing this world to create a moment of discovery for people that sparks an admiration for nature or nurtures and deepens an existing connection.
