The Microalgae Project invites schools and communities into the unseen world of microalgae. Blending science with storytelling, it sparks curiosity and empowers the next generation to see how the smallest life can shape our planet’s future.
Steph and Phoebe are the sister co-founders behind East Coast Algae. Steph has a background in Marine and Antarctic science, first-class honours in ocean governance, and experience as a marine biologist across aquaculture, lab-based management, community engagement and microalgae education. Phoebe brings more than 10 years’ experience in logistics, business strategy, software automation, production systems, business administration and large-scale warehouse management. Together, they bring the scientific vision and practical systems needed to grow East Coast Algae’s work in microalgae research, STEM education and sustainable innovation.

The Green Light Pitch Showcases brought together a cohort of teams developing algae-based innovations for sustainability. Cohorts pitched their prototypes to a live audience, sharing creative solutions to environmental challenges. The event highlighted the power of collaboration and the promise of algae technologies in shaping a greener future.
