This school year will feature many new changes. One of the newest changes includes our transition to the 4X4 Block Schedule for students. Please take the time to read about the structure of the new schedule, and review the attached sample schedules.
4x4 Block
Also Known As: Pure Block | Traditional Block | Standard 4x4
Each semester students take up to four courses that cover a full year's curriculum, enabling them to take up to eight courses per year. Each class period lasts 80-110 minutes, approximately twice as long as a traditional, Standard period. Teachers typically teach three courses each semester, giving them an extended block of time for prep or collaboration each day. A block schedule can support deeper learning by allowing a variety of activities to occur during a single class period (direct instruction, student projects, collaborative work, discussions, assessments, tutoring, etc). This schedule also provides flexibility for students to take more classes (especially electives), receive additional support, and have off-campus options for internships, community college courses, etc.
