Our student helpers range from 6th to 8th grade. They are a vital part of making sure the library delivers vital services!
Here are some of the ways student helpers help enable library services.
Reduces time spent out of class because of lightning-fast checkout times. Less waiting = more teaching/reading.
Increases the currency and relevance of our library collection and services. Helpers shelve returned books, check out books, shelf read, identify worn books, give feedback on popular books, decorate, help with bulletin boards and signage, and keeps the library clean and attractive.
Increases availability of librarian to n provide reader’s advisories, reference help, Chromebook/tech issues, research assistance for students, and lesson/research support for teachers
Increases library operation hours
Every school year, students get the opportunity to put in their names for consideration to become library helpers.
