Mr. Magee's 8th Grade Science Classroom
About me...
Welcome to 8th Grade Science! My name is Ken Magee, and I am entering my 5th year at McKinley Middle Academic Magnet. I teach 8th Grade Science and Forensic Science at MMAM. Forensic Science is an elective course, and is open to 8th graders. I also tutor math, and will be starting up an MMAM baseball program in the spring. I am looking forward to teaching the Class of 2026!.
Prior to teaching, I was employed with Albemarle Corporation for 25 years. While there, I held the position of Process Coordinator, and was the in charge of our Emergency Response Team. I was our site's Fire Chief, Head EMT and the Site Incident Commander. I trained our Emergency Response Team in CPR, Incident Commander Protocol, HAZMAT response and First Responder Medical Training.
I really enjoyed my time at Albemarle. However, God was always tapping my shoulder, telling me that I should be a science teacher. Science has been a passion of mine all my life, so when the time was right, I resigned my position at AIbemarle, and enrolled in LSU full time. I graduated in the fall of 2020 with a BS in Biology, and a minor in Chemistry. It is my hope to pass on the same enthusiasm and excitement that I have about science to my students.
