School Hours
8:45-9:00 AM is student arrival time and 3:20 PM is student dismissal time.
12:30 PM is early dismissal time (this applies to holiday early dismissals, teacher PD afternoons, and conferences)
In the case of inclement weather, school may close or open late. Please check Edulink, the district website, local news stations, or social media for closing information.
We are a PEANUT and TREE NUT free classroom. Thank you for understanding and keeping our class family safe!
It is important to keep our brains fueled in order to learn and grow! There will be a designated break time each day where students will be able to eat a snack they bring from home. Please send a nutritious snack and water in with your child each day.
Should there be any changes to your child's typical drop-off or pick-up schedule, including an early pick-up, please notify the teacher as well as the school office using a written note. The note should include the date, your child's first and last name(s), the first and last name(s) of the person(s) picking up the student, and the classroom teacher's name and room number.
If your child arrives to school after 9:00 AM when arrival doors have closed, a parent or guardian must accompany the child into the office to receive a tardy excuse for the classroom teacher.
Please be sure to always bring a valid photo ID when entering the school building.
If you know your child is going to be absent, please notify the teacher and the office ahead of time. An excuse may be sent in prior to the absence if it is known. If an unexpected absence occurs, please send an appropriate excuse note in with your child upon their return.
Breakfast and lunch is served at school each day. Most days, there is a main and alternate lunch choice. Lunch money may be loaded to your child's school account online or by sending a check or cash to school with your child. Menus will be sent home at the beginning of each month, or you may access them online.
If you wish to share a special treat with the class for your child's birthday, please be sure that the item is non-edible (no food or snacks) and there is enough to share with every child in the classroom (pencils, erasers, stickers, temporary tattoos, etc). Summer birthdays will be celebrated in May/June at the end of the school year.
More information regarding holiday celebrations will be sent home with your child closer to those dates. Typically, holiday celebrations consist of special activities for the day as well as a special treat time. On those days, the teacher will communicate with families to send their child in with a special treat in addition to daily snack that is not to be shared with others.
In the beginning of the school year, your child will be sent home with a laminated QR code with their name on the "Keep at Home" side of their bright orange daily folder. This QR code will be used for your child to log on to all East Penn academic resources (Seesaw, EPIC, iReady, etc.). Please keep this QR code in a safe place. It will also be available on your child's "Fridge Friend" laminated handout. This is a very handy sheet, to access throughout the year.
There will not be daily assigned homework in first grade. Instead, challenge yourself to read at least one book with your child every night! Even ten minutes of reading can benefit your child greatly. Try reading books, magazines, or poems! Take turns reading to your child and listening to your child read. Exposure and consistency will allow your child to become a fluent, lifelong reader.
