Read with your child each and every night! This will help your child become familiar with text, story structure, character, and setting. More importantly, your child will enjoy extra time with you while enjoying literature!
Review sight word flashcards each night. As your child becomes proficient in these words, have them read them when you see them in text, at grocery stores, and on menus.
When you see your child's guided reading folder in his/her backpack, have your child read their book and sign their reading log.
Look for emails and/or notes about special homework assignments.
Each day, students will bring home a folder that will contain messages from the office and/or classroom. There may also be completed work or homework assignments found within. Please check it everyday!
We will have an afternoon snack and recess time each day. Please pack a small, healthy snack that is not too messy! It is also important to make sure that your child knows where to find his/her snack in the backpack and that it is packed separately from lunch! This can be tricky for our littles. Have your child help you pack it so that they know where it is and what they are looking for.
All absences require a written excuse.
Students may celebrate their birthdays by bringing in a non-edible treat for the class.
If your child's "school to home" routine is altered, please send a note with him or her to school or call the office. Please do not rely on email, as I may not see it during the school day!
If you send in lunch money, either cash or a check, please make sure that it is in an envelope clearly marked with your child's name.
