A "good fit" book is one that matches a child’s reading ability while still being engaging and enjoyable. Here's how we help students find a good fit:
Interest: The child is excited about the book's topic or story.
Purpose: The book aligns with the child’s goal—whether reading for fun, learning, or practicing specific skills.
Comprehension: The child can understand what’s happening in the book. If the material is too complex, it might not be a good fit.
Word Recognition: The child can read most of the words, with only a few challenges to help them grow.
A good fit book is like the "Goldilocks" of reading—not too easy or too hard, but just right for developing skills and keeping them interested!
