Dear Parents/Guardians:,

Welcome to 5th grade at Macungie Elementary School! We are looking forward to a productive year with your child. Along those lines, here is a list of items that we would like our 5th graders to have when they arrive on the first day of school: 

Classroom Materials

The following items should be gathered in a storage box or sealable bag: 

• pencil bag/case

• any pencils

• lead pencils are permitted - extra lead for refillable lead pencils

• small pencil sharpener

• erasers

• 2 black flair markers 

• 2 black regular Sharpies 

• 1 pack of markers

• highlighters 

• scissors

• 3 glue sticks

• calculator (any type - labeled with your child’s name)

• 3” x 3” light colored sticky notes (2 packs)

In addition to the above supplies, we are requesting the following for 5th grade:

·  5 two-pocket folders - PLEASE DO NOT LABEL THE FOLDERS – 

   we will do this in school during the first week of school.

·  3 separate notebooks (PLEASE DO NOT LABEL)

·  hand sanitizer (for your use only throughout the day)

·  preferably headphones (they are more durable) or several pairs of earbuds (they  

   get lost or break easily.) Affordable, durable headphones can be found at 5 

   Below!

·  2 Read-to-Self books each day you come to school

Water:  Students are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle with a wide top.  There will be water refill stations throughout the building.
