There are several ways you can support your child as they learn to play an instrument!
1.) Encourage your child to practice! The single most important thing you can do to help your child succeed as they learn to play a band instrument is encourage them to practice. Even just 10 minutes a day practicing their instrument can lead to tremendous progress in a short amount of time. Try to provide a quiet place and time, free from distractions, for your child to practice their instrument each day. Encourage them to play their band music for family members or pets!
2.) Make sure your child has the necessary supplies. Renting or obtaining a quality instrument for your child, as well as making sure they have the necessary supplies (reeds, lesson book, etc.) for your child to use in lessons and band rehearsals is very important. Please contact me if financial constraints are making this difficult for your family--there are ways that I can help you!
3.) Attend performances! Even though they may not say it, having parents, grandparents, friends, etc. in the audience at a concert means a great deal!
