We love celebrating birthdays in room 314! In room 314, we celebrate on the day or as close to the day as we can. You are welcome to bring in a pre-packaged, pre-approved, nut-free treat or a non-edible item to pass out.
We do celebrate holidays in room 314, including Halloween, Winter, and Valentine's Day.
Students in room 314 will have a daily snack. It is typically a "working snack", where they eat their snack as they learn. Please feel free to send in a daily snack, but please keep it NUT FREE and healthy! Candy is not encouraged, and I often ask students who are eating candy in the morning to put it away in their locker. Also, if your child brings in yogurt, applesauce, or something requiring a spoon, please try to send in a spoon for them to use. I don't always have them in my classroom. Thank you!
Room 314, along with all the other classrooms in Willow Lane, is nut free. If your child brings in a snack that has nuts or peanut butter, I will have to ask him or her to put it away. If I notice that they bring in a snack containing nuts more than once, I will give you a call to let you know that we can't have nut products in the classroom. Furthermore, lunches may no longer contains nuts or nut products. This is because we will be eating lunch in the classroom.
If your child is out sick, please send in a note indicating that he or she is sick. This can also be done in an email. The office is keeping a strict count of the number of student absences, more so than in years past. I will forward any emails or notes to the front office letting them know that your child is sick. Don't be surprised if you hear from the office asking for a note if one was not sent in.
Furthermore, if your child is out sick, I will gladly gather their missed assignments for them. Please just let me know how you would like me to get the work home to your child - with a buddy or office pick-up.
If your family is going away on a vacation, please fill out the vacation form on the district website and send it in as soon as you can. (Link to vacation form) Dr. Moyer typically looks at it right away, and sends home a white half-slip that shows whether or not it was approved. Please note that vacation time will not be approved during PSSA testing weeks.
