You will find resources on this page for each unit that we will be studying in 6th grade science. Follow the links to explore these topics. Important information, assignments, and materials will be posted through Schoology.
This unit is filled with hands-on experiences with bugs, worms, fish, and snails. We will see how milkweed bugs change over time and create successful environments for them to live in our classroom. We will see how worms change the rate of decomposition and build terrariums to study ecosystems.
Roller coasters anyone? This is an introductory course to physics. We will learn how to calculate the speed, acceleration, and momentum of a roller coaster. We will also spend some time investigating Newton's 3 Laws of Motion building zip lines. If you love math, this unit is for you!
We will end the year with geology. After studying the plate tectonic theory and continental drift we will investigate the causes of earthquakes and volcanoes. Using google earth we will investigate volcanoes around the world and work together in teams to build a tsunami safe village.
