The Four Seasons, Autumn

 

November

 

During the month of November, students will learn to sing and move to our new Character Trait Song: Caring.  

Our Patriotic Song Of The Month is America The Beautiful, you can sing along here!

All Deer Run Students will begin to work on their Winter Holiday Sing Along songs.

Students this month will also be listening to and singing Native American Indian Songs: 

HÁtira, Hi Yo Ip Si Ne Ya and Navaho Night Chant.  

We also will add a steady beat with the drums and shaker instruments! 

Students will learn how to Partner Dance to a traditional song:  Turkey In The Straw. 

Students will learn to sing and gallop to a traditional Thanksgiving Song: Over The River And Through The Woods.


                                                                                       December                                                                                                   

The Deer Run School  School Winter Holiday Sing A-long 

This month, we are learning songs about Winter Holiday Celebrations that take place around the world. 

Over the next few weeks we will learn to sing some Winter, Hanukkah and Christmas favorites!   

We will also listen to music composed by Peter Tchaikovsky from The Nutcracker Ballet.

Our Patriotic Song for the Month of December is Yankee Doodle.

January 2024

To all our School Family and Friends,  I would like to wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year!!!  

Our Character Trait Song for this month is Trustworthy

Our Patriotic Song of the Month, is America (My Country 'tis Of Thee).  

I have posted the lyrics for you to download below.  

Students will learn to sing a song called I Think You're Wonderful by Red Grammer.

This month we will learn about the Instruments in the Orchestra viewing: 

Peter and the Wolf written by  Sergue Prokofiev.  

Students will also sing songs about Winter, Snow, a Snowman Song and 

we will learn how to play a variety of Percussion Instruments.

February

This month, we are working on our Character Trait Song; Fairness.

Our Patriotic Song Of The Month is God Bless The USA.

This month, we will have a chance to move with our snowflake scarfs

while listening to Vivaldi's Winter and dancing to our Snowflake Song.

We will also have an opportunity to act out and sing  Groundhog Day Song, What Shall We Do When We All Go Out, Snowman Scale Song

and our Valentine Song Skinamarink and a Valentine's Day Song/Swing Dance Game!  

We will also learn a dance to the song Hands Up/Give Me Your Heart  Happy Valentines Day!!!

During the week of Presidents Day, we will march and cheer to the song: Hurray For Mr. Lincoln and Mr. Washington.

We will also have an opportunity to learn a song scarf folding activity called Little Johnny Brown.

March

This month we are working on our Character Trait Song:  Citizenship.

Our Patriotic Song of the Month is Your A Grand Old Flag

We will also have an opportunity to work on some St. Patrick's Day Songs such as:

 Michael Finnegan, The Leprechaun Is Sleeping, 

The Luck Of The Irish and we viewed Riverdance.

We most recently started songs about Spring!

April

Students will work on their concert songs.

Here is a look ahead to the upcoming monthly music activities:

May and June

Grade 2 will have an Insect Presentation in the Courtyard on TBD.

We will learn how to sing our National Anthem:  The Star Spangled Banner and 

some other famous Patriotic Songs

Grade K will perform at our Annual Tea Party on TBD

October is a musical month, filled with all kinds of sounds♫ of autumn.

We  move like autumn leaves with our colorful dancing scarfs!
