Homework Expectations
Students should work rigorously during the school day to make wise use of class time from bell to bell. The general guideline is, outside of reading, no more than an average of 10 minutes per grade level per day. For third grade you should expect about 30 minutes of homework a night not including 20 minutes of reading. Students will be given time in class to work on and sometimes complete assignments.
Homework is practice time, a time to review skills and concepts learned in class. With this in mind, homework may be graded for completion rather than accuracy at the teacher’s discretion. Homework will not be assigned over school breaks.
All assignments are expected on the due date. Math and Literacy assignments given each day are expected to be turned in the following day unless otherwise noted. When larger projects are assigned, due dates can be found on the Two Weeks at a Glance Calendar.
