ESports has become one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Atlanta is one of the hubs for this. Georgia had 165 schools participating in eSports for the 2022-2023 school year. GHSA uses PlayVS to facilitate eSports.

Most games played are team centered games. Those that are not find players for one team like Madden helping and consulting with players from an opposing team within the same school.

Skill Building
Strategic and analytical skills come into play in esports. Developing a strategy and knowing what characters/team to choose are key in any gaming scene. A wrong choice could award you with that first L of the match.
Sportsmanship
Sportsmanship
No one wins every game. With winning, comes losing. Learning how to deal with a loss in a game teaches students how to handle set backs in life.
The PlayVS website states that STEM-related skills are crucial to any esports athlete: deep engagement with computer technology, statistical analysis for scouting, and strategizing pre-match and mid-match.
