Biography
I am a third-culture kid, born to an Irish father and an American mother, raised in France, and now living in Amsterdam. I discovered my passion for theatre on the streets of Penang, Malaysia, working with Teater Muda, a youth theatre company. There, I witnessed firsthand the power of theatre to transform, uplift, and bring together people from diverse backgrounds. Inspired by this experience, I trained directly under Jacques Lecoq and became a founding member of Diehard Players Paris.
I believe, as Martin Esslin put it, that theatre is “a form of philosophizing not in the abstract but in concrete terms” - a fun and dynamic way to explore the human(e) condition. As Artistic Director of Opera Armida, a collective of experimental artists, I create operatic installations that merge sound, word, and movement to explore social issues and foster aesthetic epiphanies. Leading devised opera-theatre productions for the Dutch National Opera, I remain committed to creating work that resonate, challenge, and unite.
