Jennifer Abrams is an international educational and communications consultant for public and independent schools, universities and non-profits. Jennifer trains and coaches teachers, administrators and others on new teacher/employee support, having hard conversations, effective collaboration skills and being your best adult self at work. 

In her over two decades at Palo Alto Unified School District (Palo Alto, CA, USA), Jennifer was a high school English teacher, new teacher coach, and professional development facilitator. She left PAUSD in 2012 to start her full time communications consultancy in which she works with schools and organizations around the globe. 

Jennifer presents at annual North American-based conferences such as Learning Forward, ASCD, NASSP, NAESP, AMLE, ISACS and the New Teacher Center Annual Symposium among others.  Internationally, she facilitated with the Teachers’ and Principals’ Centers for International School Leadership (TTC and PTC) and presents with EARCOS, NESA, ECIS, AISA, AASSA, CEESA and Tri-Association, and consults with schools across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South America and Canada.

Erma Anderson is a former high school physics and mathematics teacher and Albert Einstein Distinguished Fellow in the United States Senate. She was a Senior Program Officer with the National Research Council assisting in the development of the National Science Education Standards and a Christa McAuliffe Fellow with the National Foundation for the Improvement of Education. She has worked with the National Science Teachers Association on several projects including, the Mentoring Initiative e-Mentoring for Student Success, development of sciLINKS and Project Manager of Scope, Sequence and Coordination of Secondary School Science. She was Associate Project Director for the Council for Basic Education’s Schools Around the World project, developing and implementing the Evidence to Excellence protocol, professional development that used student work from participating countries to enhance the teaching and learning of mathematics and science. 

She has considerable experience developing and facilitating workshops, on site and online with multiple national and international entities. Currently, she is a consultant working with international schools on development and implementation of a Standards Based Mathematics Curriculum. In addition, she facilitates the Math Specialist in International Schools (MSIS) and Math Fellows in International Schools (MFIS) initiative. In the past 20 years, she has facilitated conversations around preK to 12 math and science curriculum, instruction and assessment in over 150 international schools and facilitated hundreds of parent presentations on the teaching and learning of mathematics.  

On many occasions, she has been recognized for her work in the international education community.  In 2012, she received the Near East South Asia (NESA) Association of International Schools, Finis Engleman International Educator of Year Award. In 2015, she received the Mediterranean Association International Schools (MAIS) International Educator of Year Award.

Shei, a passionate educator, has dedicated two decades to teaching across Africa, Asia, and North America. Recently settling in Canada after years of international experience, Shei has honed her skills from teaching students in Grades 1 to 12 to spearheading service-learning programs. This role deepened her understanding of service, global citizenship, and community engagement, fostering and expanding collaborations with international schools, educational bodies, and non-profit organizations.

As a bilingual educator holding a Master's degree, Shei boasts a rich background in the International Baccalaureate system, having taught the Primary Years (PYP), Middle Years (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). She is an active contributor to the International Baccalaureate Educator Network (IBEN), undertaking various roles such as an MYP Innovator reviewer, mentor, workshop leader, school visitor, and, more recently, designing resources for The Festival of Hope. Shei is the co-creator of Serve Cerabral and co-founder of Be The Change by Orenda Learning. She is proud to be part of the CBK Associates team and Make a Difference (MAD).

David Begbie is Director of the Crossroads Global Village and a senior spokesman for the humanitarian aid and development organisation, headquartered in Hong Kong. 

Over the past 27 years, David has spoken widely about the work of this organisation, representing them for the press, educational institutions, business corporations, consular and United Nations events. He is also the director of Crossroads’ experiential programs which have seen over 245,000 participants engage in simulations, including attendees at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. His role includes strategic leadership in the development of opening up our site further as a ‘destination of inspiration’ for the Hong Kong community.

Jennifer D. Klein is a product of experiential project-based education herself, and she lives and breathes the student-centered pedagogies used to educate her. She became a teacher during graduate school in 1990, quickly finding the intersection between her love of writing and her fascination with educational transformation and its potential impact on social change. She spent nineteen years in the classroom, including several years in Costa Rica and eleven in all-girls education, before leaving the classroom to support educators’ professional learning in public, private, and international schools. Russell Lehmann is an award-winning and internationally recognized thought leader, speaker, poet, and advocate contextualizing autism, mental health, disabilities, and the overall human condition. His words have been featured in the USA Today, LA Times, NPR, Yahoo! News, Success Magazine and archived in the Library of Congress.

A graduate of MIT’s “Leadership in the Digital Age” course, Russell sits on numerous boards such as the national Board of Directors for The Arc of the United States and is a lead council member for the Autism Society of America. He also serves as an advisor to NEXT for Autism and is a consultant for the US Department of Justice, restructuring our criminal justice system in a more equitable fashion for those with disabilities.

Additionally, Russell has been the Youth Ambassador for the mayor of Reno, Nevada, and a member of the Nevada Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities as well as the Nevada Commission on Autism Spectrum Disorders. Russell is also a contributor for Psychology Today.

Russell showed signs of autism as a newborn, however, he was not formally diagnosed until the age of 12 after suffering through 5 weeks in a lockdown psychiatric facility.

His new book, “On the Outside Looking In” recently hit bookstores nationwide.

In 2018, Russell was named as Reno-Tahoe’s “Most Outstanding Young Professional Under 40”.

In 2019 & 2020, Russell lectured for the prestigious King’s College of London and the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Special Education in Abu Dhabi, respectively. In 2022, Russell was invited to the Finnish Parliament to discuss government supports that are needed in Finland for individuals on the spectrum.

Named the 2022 Advocate of the Year by the Autism Society of America, Russell currently travels the world spreading hope, awareness, and compassion in a raw and dynamic fashion, while also setting his sights on erasing the stigmas and stereotypes that come with having a disability. Russell’s passion is to be a voice for the unheard, for he knows how difficult and frustrating it is to go unnoticed.

Joel Jr LLABAN (siya, he, him) is the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Justice of the International Schools Services (ISS). He is a learner and an international education leader who is committed to our collective work for the transformation of international education grounded on anti-racism, DEIJ, and belonging. 

Joel has been in education for 20 years. He worked at the International School of Kuala Lumpur, International School of Brussels, International School of Beijing, and Cebu International School as a classroom teacher, department coordinator, and accreditation coordinator, instructional coach, schoolwide DEIJ lead. He has led schoolwide initiatives and innovation in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional development. Joel has been involved in accreditation as a team evaluator during team visits representing NEASC and CIS. 

Joel leads professional learning for leadership teams in international schools and organizations. He coaches, consults, and supports leaders in the development of DEIJ professional learning and strategic plan, collaboratives, and initiatives that are mission-driven and contextually-grounded. He also leads learning for teaching and non-teaching staff, school board, students and families.

Joel served in the advisory role of the Council of International School (CIS) Board Committee on I-DEA. He is a member of the Editorial Team of The International Educator. Britta’s “spark” in education comes from collaborating to design authentic learning that contributes to the well-being of people and the planet. She uses phenomena-based inquiry, systems thinking, education for sustainable development, and project-based learning as the main ingredients in her learning designs.

As a former secondary science and social studies teacher and instructional coach, Britta’s career took her from the USA to Bolivia and then to Colombia. Britta earned her Master’s of Science degree in 2017 after conducting research on how project-based learning impacts student motivation and performance. She is currently the Director of Learning at the American International School of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

Britta co-founded the NGSS Partnership Project in 2020, aiming to bring educators together in a regional professional learning community that strengthens their collective efficacy in implementing engaging and effective science instruction. What the co-founders began with a partnership between two schools in Colombia has now brought together over 1,000 educators from 54 schools in Latin America in six multi-day thematic conferences and online courses. The EARCOS Educators Conference will be NGSS Partnership’s first engagement in the Asia region.

Scott McLeod, J.D., Ph.D., is a Professor of Educational Leadership at the University of Colorado Denver and the Founding Director of the UCEA Center for the Advanced Study of Technology Leadership in Education (CASTLE), the first university center in the U.S. focused on leadership, deeper learning, technology, and innovation. 

Scott has worked with hundreds of schools, districts, universities, and other organizations and has received numerous awards for his work. He is a frequent keynote speaker and workshop facilitator at regional, state, national, and international conferences. Scott also hosts two podcasts, LeaderTalk and Redesigning for Deeper Learning.

Dr. Terry Roberts is a lifelong teacher and educational reformer as well as an award-winning novelist. As a student of intellectual history, he is fascinated by the power of dialogue to inspire critical and creative thinking. Since 1992, he has been the Director of the National Paideia Center, a non-profit school reform organization dedicated to making intellectual rigor accessible to all children. In addition to five celebrated novels, he has written extensively about public education, notably The Power of Paideia Schools, The Paideia Classroom, and Teaching Critical Thinking: Using Seminars for 21st Century Literacy (with Laura Billings). His most recent book is The New Smart: How Nurturing Creativity Will Help Children Thrive (2019, Foreword by Howard Gardner), in which he defines the sort of individual who will thrive in the year 2050, and how our schools can nurture that person.

Heather Rich is the Lower School PYP Coordinator/Instructional Coach at TISA in Azerbaijan. Her current focus is using standards to structure conceptually-based units that promote action and international-mindedness. She is an advocate for equitable science learning at all grade levels, and believes science is where students can show the learning that transfers. 

Heather has taught internationally in her home city of New York, for over 20 years. She has been a K-12 instructional coach for Science, an Elementary homeroom teacher, and an English language acquisition specialist for MLLs. Educational passions include student-centered coaching, curriculum development, UdL, and language acquisition theory.

Heather teamed up with Britta McCarthy during the pandemic to found NGSS Partnership. From 2020 to 2023, NGSS Partnership put on six multi-day, virtual conferences, in-person workshops, and developed an online asynchronous course. NGSS Partnership’s purpose was to bring science teachers together throughout Latin America, deepen collective understanding of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and learn from each other’s practices. This is NGSS Partnership’s first time presenting in the EARCOS region.

Deepjyot (Deep) serves as Director of Professional Learning. Deep connects with and supports educators and schools around the world who are interested in (re)designing systems and practices that promote deeper, more equitable student learning opportunities, experiences, and outcomes. Deep has been inspired by three generations of family members ahead of her who have led efforts to support equitable access to education in India and is both grateful for and passionate about any opportunity to participate in the transformative power of teaching and learning. Prior to joining GOA, Deep taught in public, charter, and independent schools in Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and Miami. Her interest in education also led her to participate in research and advocacy efforts as well as graduate study - twice! While she still considers herself to be a big-city person, Deep lives with her husband, daughter, son and dog in mid-sized Raleigh, NC.

Francis Su writes about the dignity of human beings and the wonder of mathematical teaching. He is the Benediktsson-Karwa Professor of Mathematics at Harvey Mudd College and a past president of the Mathematical Association of America. In 2013, he received the Haimo Award, a nationwide teaching prize in the United States for college math faculty, and in 2018 he won the Halmos-Ford writing award. A life-long activist, Loung Ung is a public speaker, bestselling author of 'First They Killed My Father, Lucky Child, and Lulu in the Sky, and a co-screenplay writer of a 2017 Netflix Original Movie, "First They Killed My Father." Loung started her activism work in 1993 when she became the Community Educator for a domestic shelter in Maine. Since then, she has worked on various campaigns to end violence against women, end the use of child soldiers, and eradicate landmines globally. In 1995, Loung made her first trip back to Cambodia—and has returned on over forty trips—devoting herself to helping her native land heal from the traumas of war. In 2013, Loung expanded her activism reach to screenplay writing and was one of the writers for Girl Rising, a groundbreaking film directed by Academy Award nominee Richard Robbins.

For her work, the World Economic Forum selected Loung as one of the "100 Global Youth Leaders of Tomorrow." She has been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, People Magazine, CNN, Fresh Air with Terry Gross, and The Today Show. In addition, she has been the subject of documentary films by Nightline, German ARTE, and Japanese NHK.
