The end of the school year is very near, and we thank you for all the support you are providing during this very challenging time. Thank you for following and supporting the practical measures to reduce the chances of Covid-19 infection. Despite the Covid-19 cases in Pernambuco, Covid-19 cases at school remain low, and the EAR Health and Safety Team is helping to ensure everyone’s safety. O final do ano letivo está muito próximo, e agradecemos todo o apoio que estão prestando durante este momento tão desafiador. Obrigado por seguir e apoiar as medidas práticas para reduzir as chances de infecção pela Covid-19. Apesar dos casos de Covid-19 em Pernambuco, as ocorrências na escola continuam baixas e a Equipe de Saúde e Segurança da EAR está ajudando a garantir a segurança de todos. This will not be a regular end to the school year. As I write this newsletter, the government has stated that we cannot have face-to-face celebratory gatherings of any kind. If this changes, we will let you know, but we will celebrate our successes online. As you can imagine, we have so much to be thankful for at EAR. Despite the pandemic, we have been able to maintain a high standard of learning for our students. The teachers and staff have made great sacrifices to serve the school, and we are indebted to their tenacity and teamwork. We also thank the parents for believing in us and for helping us keep the school safe.
Este não será um final normal de ano letivo. No momento em que escrevo esta carta, o governo afirmou que não podemos ter encontros comemorativos presenciais de qualquer natureza. Se isso mudar, avisaremos a você, mas celebraremos nossos sucessos, mesmo que online. Como você pode imaginar, temos muito a agradecer na EAR. Apesar da pandemia, temos conseguido manter um alto padrão de aprendizado dos nossos alunos. Os professores e funcionários fizeram grandes sacrifícios para servir a escola, e somos gratos por sua tenacidade e trabalho em equipe. Agradecemos também aos pais por acreditarem em nós e por nos ajudarem a manter a escola segura.

Successful Arts Festival Week:
The EAR Arts Festival Week was spectacular! Activities and events in the school included everyone, and the students did so well! Thanks to all teachers and TAs for making this such a special week, and special thanks to our Arts/Music teachers. If you weren't able to see the presentations, you can still watch them on the school's YouTube channel and enjoy some students' work on the Event website developed by the teachers.

EAR Class of 2021 Graduation Ceremony:
The government mandated further restrictions which has pushed us to consider other options for this year’s EAR Graduation Ceremony. We will do all we can to ensure a meaningful graduation experience for the Class of 2021 and their families.

Recycling for Next School Year:
We are meeting with recycling companies to increase our recycling at school for next school year. There will be more learning about recycling at EAR and promoting recycling at school and in the wider community.
Reciclagem para o próximo ano letivo:
Estamos nos reunindo com empresas de reciclagem para aumentar nossa reciclagem na escola para o próximo ano letivo. Haverá mais aprendizado sobre reciclagem na EAR e a promoção da reciclagem na escola e na comunidade em geral.
Expanded Cafeteria:
The EAR Board has approved the expansion of the EAR Cafeteria. Because there will be more students for next school year, we will expand the EAR cafeteria to meet the needs of our school. A second floor will be constructed with a second serving station, and we are anticipating the project to be completed by the end of the June/July winter break.
Cafeteria Expandida:
O Conselho Diretor da EAR aprovou a expansão da Cafeteria da EAR. Como haverá mais alunos no próximo ano letivo, expandiremos o refeitório da EAR para atender às necessidades de nossa escola. Um segundo andar será construído com uma segunda estação de serviço, e estamos prevendo que o projeto seja concluído no final das férias de inverno de junho / julho.
